Tokyo Station & Bullet Train Ride

Once you’ve been picked up by you guide, we’ll head to Tokyo Station by taxi, subway, or local train—depending on your hotel location. From there, we’ll board the Hokuriku Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kanazawa. Although Kanazawa is about 300 km (180 miles) away in a straight line, the train route winds through scenic mountainous areas, making the total rail distance around 450 km. The one-way journey takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. While on board, you can sit back and relax as we travel in comfort. Enjoy the smooth ride of the Shinkansen, take in the spectacular mountain views, and feel free to have breakfast or snacks during the ride—it’s all part of the experience!

    KANAZAWA STATION TO OMICHO MARKET

After arriving at Kanazawa Station, we’ll hop into our exclusive private vehicle, which will take us to Omicho Market—a vibrant local market that dates back to 1721. Today, it’s home to around 170 shops and stalls offering everything from fresh seafood and seasonal fruits to local meats and other regional delicacies. Here, you’ll have the chance to sample delicious local specialties and street food—a perfect introduction to Kanazawa’s rich culinary culture!

    NAGAMACHI SAMURAI DISTRICT

Kanazawa was ruled for centuries by the powerful Maeda clan, one of Japan’s most influential samurai families. Remarkably, the city was spared major damage during World War II, allowing many of its samurai-era cultural treasures to remain beautifully intact. As we explore this historic samurai town, you’ll discover well-preserved residences, distinctive earthen walls, elegant wooden buildings, and serene traditional gardens. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of the history, lifestyle, and culture of the samurai who once thrived here.

    KENROKU-EN GARDEN (LUNCH OPTIONAL)

It is considered one of the three most beautiful gardens in Japan. Once part of the Maeda clan’s castle grounds, this traditional Japanese landscape garden is a masterpiece of design—every tree, pond, and stone lantern is carefully placed to create perfect harmony. The well-pruned pine trees (matsu) are stunning year-round, and the seasonal flowers—especially during cherry blossom season—are an absolute must-see. Let’s take in the breathtaking views, including the garden’s iconic stone lantern and tranquil pond.

    KANAZAWA CASTLE

rom the late 16th century to the mid-19th century, Kanazawa Castle served as the seat of the powerful Maeda clan, who were the second wealthiest samurai family after the ruling Tokugawa shogunate. A large fire in the late 19th century destroyed most of the original structures, and the site was later used as the main campus of Kanazawa University until the early 1990s. Today, many of the historic buildings have been beautifully reconstructed, faithfully restored to reflect their original appearance, offering visitors a glimpse into Kanazawa’s rich feudal past.

    HIGASHI CHAYA DISTRICT

The Japanese term “chaya” literally means “tea house.” Traditionally, these were exclusive restaurants where wealthy guests were entertained and served by geisha. In Kanazawa, there are three remaining chaya districts, with Higashi Chaya being the largest and most famous. Along its narrow lanes, you’ll find beautiful wooden tea houses and unique local shops, all preserved in traditional style. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a tranquil, nostalgic atmosphere that captures the charm of old Japan.

    RETURN TO TOKYO

After stying in Kanazawa for nearly 6 hours, finally, we will take a return journey to Tokyo. We will take Kagayaki Bullet Train, that takes us to Tokyo Station in 2 hours and 30 minutes. Before the bullet train reached to this town up to 10 years ago, there was no way to visit this amazing town in a day from Tokyo. Upon arrival in Tokyo Station, your guide will escort you to your hotel.
