High-speed trains are now common around the world, but Japan’s Shinkansen—also known as the Bullet Train—remains famous for its remarkable speed, comfort, cleanliness, punctuality, and safety. This tour is perfect for travelers who want to experience a short yet exciting ride on the Shinkansen. You’ll enjoy a round-trip journey from Tokyo to Atami, a charming coastal town in Shizuoka Prefecture. Known for its beautiful beach in summer and its relaxing hot spring resorts year-round, Atami is a popular getaway spot for both locals and visitors. Each leg of the trip takes approximately 40 minutes on the Bullet Train using non-reserved seating. Special discounted rates are available for participants with a valid Japan Rail Pass. Upon arrival in Atami, your guide will take you to the renowned MOA Museum of Art, one of Japan’s most celebrated private art museums. Perched on a hilltop, the museum offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and ocean. You’ll also have the chance to stroll through its beautifully landscaped Japanese gardens, offering a peaceful and culturally rich experience. The tour includes convenient hotel pick-up in the morning and drop-off at the end of the day.

After being picked up from your hotel, your guide will accompany you to Tokyo Station via subway or local JR train. From there, we’ll board Japan’s high-speed Bullet Train or Shinkansen. Please note that non-reserved class will be used for this tour. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes. On a clear day, you might catch a stunning view of Mt. Fuji through the train windows, making the experience even more memorable!

The city of Atami is a well-known beach and hot spring resort located in Shizuoka Prefecture. After arriving at Atami Station, we will take a local bus to the famous MOA Museum of Art. Perched on a hilltop, the museum offers breathtaking views of Sagami Bay and the Pacific Ocean.
The MOA Museum of Art, opened in 1982, is renowned for its impressive collection of traditional Japanese and East Asian art, including National Treasures such as Red and White Plum Blossoms by Ogata Kōrin and works by renowned artists like Sesson Shukei and Tawaraya Sōtatsu. The museum also features a reconstructed teahouse designed by the legendary tea master Sen no Rikyū, a Noh theater, and beautifully landscaped Japanese gardens. Its elegant modern architecture, spacious galleries, and panoramic coastal views make it one of the cultural highlights of the region.

You’ll also have the opportunity to stroll through the beautiful Japanese-style gardens located just outside the museum. These serene gardens showcase seasonal beauty—cherry blossoms, azaleas, and wisteria in spring, and vibrant autumn foliage in the fall. For a deeper cultural experience, you can enjoy a traditional Japanese-style lunch or a cup of tea at one of the garden teahouses. Finally, we will catch the bullet train departing Atami Station at 2:00 pm and enjoy another pleasant Shinkansen ride back to Tokyo. Let’s make the most of this comfortable, high-speed, high-tech train journey! After getting off the train, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.
